‘If you are looking for a fresh way to help pupils learn about healthy eating then this is it! This is a cross-curricular resource that creatively links historical archives with healthy eating to make pupils really think.‘
The Rational Food resource pack is an outcome of the Rational Food project. It uses an innovative and engaging cross-curricular approach to healthy eating, science and the history of WWII in primary and lower secondary schools. Using authentic archival material from the Rowett Research Institute, it traces how rationing in World War II relates to current issues about healthy eating.
It includes extensive teacher’s notes, photocopiable resources, imaginative video clips and printable resources on a DVD. The publication uses a highly creative approach, including many Active Assessment strategies, to challenge children’s ideas about nutrition and diet.
