About the Specifications
This is a fully revised series for the new OCR AS and A Level specifications for Biology A*. The authors gave considerable thought and analysis to their approach in developing a student-friendly yet comprehensive resource for the revised specifications, opting for a flexible, concept-based approach over the context-based design of the B specification. The choice of a concept-based arrangement did not preclude a wide and varied use of appropriate contexts for content delivery, but provided greater flexibility to approach topics thematically, scaffold learning, and make conceptual connections across different topics.
