Karen Kirkland is a professional musician and teacher with over 30 years experience in music education. “Five senses ” is a lively, positive accumulative action song with a simple, memorable melody. The song is about each of the five senses and how amazing we must be. This song can be used to introduce topics on the five senses and about us. It is suitable for all abilities in the classroom or school, junior choirs. This song is one of a series of songs written for KS1/KS2. It has been written especially for a project called “Shropshire Sings 2016” and is being premiered in July at this event organised by Shropshire Music Service.

It has a lively beat and humorous lyrics. Each verse repeats the previous sense then adds another until you have a complete song with all five senses, smell, hear, see, touch and taste. The repetition and actions are ideal for younger children. A full vocal demo version and backing track for this song is available on request. An enjoyable song to perform and feedback from teachers has been very positive.
