This project was an offshoot of the Science on the Underground project. Science problems based on Concept Cartoons were published in alternate issues of Stockport County Football Club’s matchday magazine, and fans were invited to think and talk about the problems presented. In each subsequent issue a follow up was published under the byline of ‘Our local scientist thinks that . . . .’. The project was funded by the Royal Society/British Association as a Millennium Award. It operated during the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons. Feedback from the club indicated that the project generated considerable interest and conversations outside matches, but no independent evaluation was possible.
