Supporting teachers, supporting learners

A fascinating and informative day. It has helped me to make much more sense of my role and left me brimming with ideas for leading professional development. (Adviser, West Midlands)

Does your organisation have specific responsibility for the professional development of teachers? Do you want to develop the skills of leading professional development to ensure that what you do is effective and has a direct and positive impact on teachers’ learning? This course is specifically aimed at people who have responsibility for professional development of teachers or trainee teachers. With the development of school and cluster-based training, more staff are expected to take on this role. We have extensive experience, and considerable success, in training trainers and supporting curriculum leaders in school partnerships, Local Authorities and universities. This course is highly bespoke, taking into account the needs of the individuals providing training and the people they will be working with.

On this course you will:

  • Gain access to a wide range of strategies for supporting colleagues
  • Develop confidence in working with colleagues and/or trainee teachers
  • Learn about what makes effective teaching, assessment and learning and how to communicate this in a way that is accessible
  • Learn about effective mentoring and using reflective logs to support learning
  • Develop an understanding of how to use observation as an active process to develop learning
  • Discover small changes that can make a big difference to classroom practice.

Target audience:

Subject co-ordinators, subject leaders, headteachers, teacher educators and consultants/advisers

The length of this course varies according to need and will be tailored to meet the needs of your organisation rather than ‘off the shelf’.

Available for:

WHOLE SCHOOL ISSUES, SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS and ACROSS SUBJECT AREAS
