Curiosity, questioning and talk
Building on pupils’ natural curiosity can only lead to engagement and success. Questioning and talk are two powerful ways to unlock that curiosity and harness pupils’ desire to learn. This course looks at these ideas in detail. This course provides first hand experience of the benefits of using stimulating material to promote curiosity and the impact of using suspense as a tool for engagement. This is woven together with effective questioning techniques and strategies for promoting effective group talk, discussion and argument.
On this course you will:

- Explore the characteristics and techniques of effective questioning
- Consider the features and importance of productive talk
- Develop an awareness of what makes a good piece of stimulus material and how to make the most of it.
