Creative approaches to science with young children

I was so enthused I went back to school feeling ready to do exciting science with my class and with the rest of the staff too. And even better, I actually did it! (Early Years teacher, Bedford)

Are you looking for new ideas and fresh approaches to teaching science with young children? This creative course provides plenty of inspiration. It takes account of the Statutory Framework for the EYFS and National Curriculum expectations, but it’s much more than that. It’s about helping children to observe more carefully and think more creatively about their world. It’s about learning how to get young children to observe, think, learn and communicate their ideas. It’s an opportunity for a fresh look at science in your setting.

Early years resources are available at a discounted cost as part of the course.

On this course you will:

  • Explore a range of creative starting points for science with young children
  • Learn how to engage young learners and develop their science skills and ideas
  • Learn how to recognise when children are thinking and learning
  • Develop confidence in doing science with children in your organisation
  • Learn how to recognise when science is working well in your setting.

Target audience:

Early years teachers, headteachers, trainee teachers, teaching assistants and support workers

This course lasts a minimum of half a day, but can be for a full day or longer. It will be tailored to meet the needs of your organisation rather than ‘off the shelf’.
